Meanwhile, they themselves—using their victims' fortunes—led to an extravagant lifestyle, boasting exclusive sports cars, a private jet, and luxury apartments. Thanks to their influential connections in the highest echelons of society, they managed to evade justice for 25 years, until their arrest in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, in 2019.
